How it all started
Founded in the 1970’s by Norman Nunamaker and Dorothy Jarvinen (then of the Gettysburg College faculty), the Gettysburg Chamber Music Workshop is now run by Middle Creek Chamber Music, LLC, with June Huang as Music Director and Eric Jarvinen as Administrative Director.
Accommodations and Logistics
All workshop activities take place in Hazlett Hall, a modern dormitory on the campus of Gettysburg College. Resident participants enjoy inclusive meals and optional off-campus travel. The dining hall is a short 5-minute walk from the dormitory. Each resident has a private bedroom in a suite with shared amenities. Commuter rates are available, and nearby motels offer additional accommodation options. Air travelers should coordinate travel arrangements with the Administrative Director.

Our all-inclusive fees for 2026 are only $740 for resident musicians and $490 for commuting musicians.
What to Expect
The workshop runs from Friday at 6:00 p.m. to Tuesday at noon.* Each musician is assigned to two string ensembles. Each ensemble has a daily coaching with a faculty member and a practice period. Round robin sight-reading sessions give participants the opportunity to play with others. During breaks and evening hours, many participants enjoy playing in ad-hoc groups to explore additional repertoire. Assigned groups have the option of performing in casual sharing sessions at the conclusion of the workshop.
* If necessary, a participant may leave on Monday night, with advance notice.
